At the Recreation Activity Center (RAC), our Fitness program offers a variety of fun, energizing events and activities designed to get every Eagle involved—no matter your experience level. From seasonal challenges to themed workouts and group events, there’s always something happening to keep your wellness journey exciting, inclusive, and uniquely Southern.

Whether you’re competing with friends, dancing under the stars, or pushing your limits in a powerlifting meet, you’ll find a fitness event that helps you feel strong, confident, and connected.

Show of Strength

Show of Strength is Georgia Southern’s ultimate annual powerlifting competition. Go for broke against your fellow Eagles in squat, bench press, and deadlift challenges. The glory goes to the best in each weight class division! Spectators are welcome to witness the Show of Strength.

Heart Health Challenge

Represent your organization and improve your health in the Heart Health Challenge. The organization with the most attendees at select dance classes during the week will win a free dance session!

Fitness Assessment Lab

Determine your fitness level, track your progress, set goals and evaluate your risk of cardiovascular disease through a professional fitness assessment. The Fitness Assessment Lab in the RAC is designed to help you understand your body and what exercise is right for you.

Assessments take approximately 30 to 40 minutes.

Schedule an Assessment

  • Baseline Values: resting heart rate, blood pressure, height and weight
  • Body Composition: 3-site skinfold, bioelectrical impedance analysis, waist-to-hip ratio
  • Cardiovascular Fitness: 3-minute step test
  • Muscular Fitness: push-up test, half sit-up test
  • Flexibility: reach over shoulder test, modified sit and reach test
